Iker Gastaminza

Music Producer, Composer, Sound Engineer

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Iker Gastaminza began his musical journey at the age of five, studying piano under the curriculum of the Santa Cecilia Conservatory from Rome. By 16, he joined Venezuela’s rock scene, eventually becoming a member of the progressive rock band TEMPANO. With TEMPANO, he recorded seven albums under labels like CBS, Sony, and Top Hits, achieving national fame through chart-topping hits and nationwide tours.

In 1981, he began working as a session musician, contributing his skills as a keyboardist, synthesizer programmer, and sound designer for some of Venezuela’s top artists (Ricardo Montaner, Kiara, Karina, Jesus Sevillano, Raquel Castaños). This period also saw him study electronic engineering at "Universidad Simón Bolivar", specializing in digital design and computer systems, a foundation that greatly influenced his later work in music technology. Over 5 years, he produced the ID Tags and the music for end of year advertising pre-sale show for Venezuelan TV station VENEVISON, including several theme songs sung by the complete roster of artists from the record label SONORODVEN.

By 1996, he relocated to Miami, where he gained prominence in the Latin music scene. As a producer, arranger, and engineer, he collaborated with numerous Latin artists, including Shakira, Fonseca, Ricky Martin, Chayanne, Ricardo Montaner, Bacilos, David Bisbal, Ednita Nazario, Boyz II Men, and Olga Tañón. His contributions have earned him a Grammy and seven Latin Grammys, along with multiple participation awards and nominations for mixing and engineering.

With his previous experience in TV, he ventured in further TV music production, creating the theme music for Telemundo’s novelas "El Rostro de Analía", "Más Sabe el Diablo", and "Perro Amor". He composed and produced themes for programs like "Al Rojo Vivo", "Noticiero Telemundo", and sports shows like "Ritmo Deportivo".

Throughout this time, he has created a series of music library tracks for film, TV and multimedia. His live performance career includes serving as the musical director for Chayanne’s live band, keyboardist for The Stray Jackets, and performing with his original band TEMPANO during reunion concerts.

Today, he remains a vital force in the music industry, producing and mentoring emerging artists while continuing collaborations with major names across Latin music and television.
